Tokina 50-135mm f/2.8 PRO DX AF (User Review)

A PopPhoto.com reader from Matthews, NC reviews the Tokina 50-135mm f/2.8 PRO DX AF:

Sharp and high contrast even wide open, this is a pro lens at all focal lengths. I love being able to disengage the auto focus with just a push on the focus ring. My D200 is fitted with a Katz Eye focusing screen with split image and micro prism just like the good old manual focus SLR's. Although I prefer to hand focus whenever possible, this lens does just fine on auto.

What's Hot: Small, light, sharp & fast.

What's Not: Expensive at $675 street!

You can test the indoor (ambient light) performance of a compact digital camera by putting it through the paces at an open-air or farmer's market-style vegetable mart. Fresh veggies provide a full array of colors, textures, and surfaces while the lighting conditions mock the worse you'll ever encounter at home. Shoot close, shoot wide, shoot with and without flash.
