Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM (User Review)
A PopPhoto.com reader from Hyderabad, India reviews the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens:
When I purchased a Canon 400D (Rebel XTi in the US), I wanted a good telephoto zoom lens to go with it. I chose the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens because I was interested in photographing birds. I tried it handheld, and thanks to its optical image stabilization, I could use it at f/5.6. Even with early morning light, I achieved excellent results. At all apertures I found the lens to be a fine performer and while the push/pull zooming was a little inconvenient, it was only for the first few hours of use.
What's Hot: Portability for such a long-range zoom. I found it was extremely useful, even handheld in bird photography.
What's Not: Push-pull zooming.
