Nikon Coolpix P6000: Big Camera Features in a Little Package

Nikon has announced a very serious luxe-class compact camera today, the 13.5 megapixel Coolpix P6000 (SRP: $499). The P6000 packs a 4x optically stabilized 28-112mm f/2.8-5.9 zoom, built-in GPS, Nikon Speedlight-compatible hotshoe (and wireless controls), and a new RAW file format ("NRF")which will be compatible with Nikon ViewNX Software.

There's an optical viewfinder, along with a 2.7-inch 230,000 dot LCD, and a pop-up onboard strobe. The ISO range at full resolution is 64-3200, with a 3 megapixel ISO 6400 expansion option. Other cool features include an Ethernet port, SLR-like picture controls,  and built-in lens distortion correction.
