Fujifilm has added a new model to its line of high-zoom electronic viewfinder (EVF) cameras. The 10-megapixel Finepix S2000HD offers an f/3.5-5.4, 27.6mm-414mm (35mm equivalent) 15x zoom lens; a 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot LCD; and a 0.2-inch, 200,000-dot EVF. The most notable addition to this camera is its 1280x720-pixel high-definition video capture. It also incorporates an HD-out port for playback on an HDTV.

With a mix of manual and automatic exposure modes, the S2000HD also provides 13 scene modes, face detection, automatic redeye correction, and a Dual Image Stabilization function that combines optical stabilization with an ISO and shutter-speed boost. The camera's light sensitivity settings go up to ISO 1600 or ISO 3200 and 6400 at a reduced 5-megapixel resolution. Its shutter speed ranges from 1/1000 to 4 seconds.

Other notable features include an Instant Zoom digital zoom function that enlarges the center of the frame and a Zoom Bracketing function that uses face detection and digital zoom to enlarge a subject's face in the image frame. These are both essentially in-camera cropping functions that work in shooting mode. The camera can capture up to 33 3-megapixel frames at 13.5fps or 5-megapixel frames at 6.8fps.

The S2000HD will be available in September 2008 for $299.95.
