Nikon Introduces Wide 5.8x Zoom Lens

Nikon has added an optically stabilized wide 5.8x zoom to its collection of lenses that are optimized for use with DX-format digital SLRs. The compact AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR offers the same angle of view as a 27mm-157.5mm lens on a 35mm film camera. The lens incorporates a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) to achieve fast, quiet autofocus, as well as Extra-low Dispersion (ED) and advanced aspherical lens elements to reduce optical flaws. Its Super Integrated Coating is designed to improve color fidelity and reduce ghosting and flare.

The new lens will be available in September 2008 for an estimated price of $399.95 and in a $1299.95 kit with Nikon’s new D90 digital SLR.
