New Printers from Canon

Canon has added the Selphy CP740 to its line of compact dye-sub printers. The 2.1-pound model outputs 4x6, 4x8, and smaller prints, and features a two-inch LCD, memory card slots, and a retractable USB cable for connecting to a computer. It can receive images from USB-connected Pictbridge-compatible cameras, and from camera phones via an optional Bluetooth adapter.

Built-in photo-editing features include automatic red-eye removal and print layout templates. Canon claims the CP740 takes approximately 58 seconds to produce a 4x6 print.

The Selphy CP740 will be available in Fall 2007 for $99.99.
