What's Hot: Great image quality, handling and ergonomics. Better autofocus capability than entry-level Nikons with old lenses. Good Hi-ISO shots.
What's Not: Mushy click wheel. The D40's is better.

Review: Upgraded to this from a D40 which I liked very much. The D80 allows me to autofocus with non-AF-S lenses like the 85mm f/1.8 and the 50 mm f/1.8. That alone made it worth the upgrade. But I also appreciate the 11 focus points and the dedicated shutter and aperture command dials. The D40 had just 3 focus points and only one dial. The D80 also has dedicated buttons for ISO and white balance. This has proven to be a very versatile camera for the many kinds of photography I'm into and I recommend it if you are an intermediate shooter who can't quite afford the D90.
