Review: This lens is really quite special. For a 3rd party lens, it's easily as good or better than OEM macro or short teles. It rivals Nikon's pro-build lenses both optically and build quality, and betters most brands. One nice thing is that it is as sharp at macro distances as it is out there at infinity and this is quite rare for a macro lens. On the same note, though it's a bit expensive, it doubles nicely as a short fast telephoto. It's the longest macro out there with a 2.8 max aperture. Factor that in and the Sigma 150 f/2.8 becomes a bargain. It's an all metal lens with one of the best tripod collars in the business. This really helps when it's windy. It's a better tripod collar than came on my Nikon 300 f/2.8. There are only three negative issues I can think of. One, the tripod collar works its way loose sometimes. No harm in that, just that it's irritating. Secondly, it's a little heavy, but that's what an all metal fast aperture lens is. There's a lot of glass there. Finally, I've heard they have problems with Olympus cameras. Most of us wouldn't care, but Oly users might. I'm sure it's a software problem because of Oly's small crop sensor. This lens is a real keeper, folks. I own and use 3 or 4 macro lenses at any time and this one is my favorite and the first non-Nikon macro I've ever owned in 40 years of photography.
